Who Should Join the CDACD?

Membership in the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District (CDACD) is the resource for attorneys, financial advisors and mental health professionals who want to enhance their Collaborative Practice.

The purpose for CDACD is to advance Collaborative Practice throughout the Capital District of New York. The organization achieves this mission by supporting members to achieve excellence in Collaborative Practice through community and networking, training and events and advocating public acceptance of Collaborative Practice.


Legal Professional

Attorneys have the opportunity to use their negotiation and problem-solving skills to help clients focus on what is most important to them and their families and to assist their clients to move forward in the best possible way.

Mental Health Professional

Mental health professionals work in a coaching role to support clients as they navigate the emotional journey of divorce. Coaches assist clients with communication skills and the management of conflict within the marital dynamic. Child specialists work in a neutral capacity on parenting issues and the needs of the children.

Financial Professional

Financial professionals work in a neutral capacity with both clients to gather financial information and help develop a financial plan that works for both spouses and their family.

Divorce Coach

Divorce coaching is a flexible, goal-oriented process designed to support, motivate, and guide people going through divorce to help them make the best possible decisions for their future, based on their particular interests, needs, and concerns.

Child Specialist
